My page includes information about my working practice and the work and designs that I create. As a newly emerging artist I am hoping to keep an active blog to show my work, and all of the live briefs and work that I am involved in.

Successful Exhibition!

Last month my college group had our end of year exhibition, including a private view night and it was very successful. We were able to show off our work in a proffessional manner, and also advertsie ourselves as artists. I have included some images of how my own part of the show looked. The work that I displayed was from my "Architectural Headwear" project that I was working on up until the time of the exhibition.

As can be seen in this image my show consisted of both imagery and 3d work (my headpieces), which I felt showed my work at its best and made a more successful show of my work.

http://contemporaryart12.blogspot.com/

This blog was set up to promote all of the artists that I work with, and myself, for the group exhibition that we will be holding at the end of the year. It includes all of our current activities as a group and the different fundraising and ideas that we have come up with.

"A Head for Heights" - Architectural Headwear

My current project is about creating headwear and accessories that are inspired by architectural forms. I am trying to contrast the historical against the contemporary architecture to create some interesting pieces for my final ideas and designs. I want to create textiles pieces that are unusual and that make you question what they are about and where the inspiration has come from. I have pushed this textiles project more towards the three dimensional aspect, which is an area I thoroughly enjoy working within as I like to work with many different materials and media.
I feel that by working with two contrasting ideas like these (architectural forms and headwear), that I will be able to create some very interesting designs and pieces, that will challenge my creative thought process and I will hopefully be able to create some really interesting designs.
